Thereβs something quietly powerful about reading alongside others.
What began as two friends reading together in a wine bar has grown into a global movementβthousands of Silent Book Club chapters across 60+ countries, all rooted in the same simple idea: gather, slow down, and readβtogether.
At Origin Coffee Co, weβre bringing that spirit to our community.
The Sara-Placid Chapter of Silent Book Club isnβt your typical book club. Thereβs no assigned reading, no deadlines, no pressure to perform. Just bring whatever youβre currently readingβnovel, poetry, nonfiction, audiobookβand settle in.
Weβll begin with a short window to arrive, order a drink, and gently connect. Then we move into an hour of quiet, shared reading. Afterward, youβre welcome to stay, chat, and exchange recommendationsβor simply slip out into the evening.

Why We Host It
At Origin Coffee Co, we care deeply about creating spaces where people can gather meaningfully. Silent Book Club aligns with that intentionβoffering a slower, more intentional way to be together, rooted in presence, curiosity, and community.
Silent Book Club is special because it creates a different kind of gatheringβone that makes space for both connection and solitude at the same time. Around the world, these gatherings have become a way for people to meet without expectation, to be present without performance, and to build community in a way that feels natural and unforced.
Itβs a reminder that community doesnβt always have to be loud.
Sometimes it looks like a room full of people, a shared table, a good cup of coffeeβand the quiet comfort of knowing youβre not reading alone.
Silent Book Club is a global community of readers and introverts, with 500 chapters around the world led by local volunteers. SBC members gather to read and build community in quiet camaraderie. This is the SaraPlacid chapter, but you can learn all about the movement here: https://silentbook.club
