  • Region: Murang'a County, Central Kenya

Kangunu Farmers Cooperative Society is located about 140 km North West of Nairobi in Murang'a North district of the Central Province. The Murang'a area is a rich agricultural oasis on the slopes of the Aberdare Mountains. Kangunu is at 1740 meters, endowed with rich volcanic soils that are deep, well drained and have a lot of organic material that are beneficial for coffee.

As with other good coops in Murang'a, the farmers typically hand sort the coffee cherry. This is an AB outturn, which are the medium-sized beans that measure between 15/64" to 16/64".

In the photos meet manager John Chege, their vibrant green “Kangunu” gate, and get a glimpse of the washed process coffee drying in the center of the drying beds at Kangunu before being spread into a thin layer.
